Christmas Carollers ByWard Market Throughout December - Weekends Only 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. Performing on the corner of ByWard Market and George Street Throughout the ByWard Market area Celebrate the holiday season with some old-fashioned Christmas carolling in the ByWard Market! Free horse-drawn wagon rides will chauffeur you and other carollers through the historic streets of Ottawa's oldest and most vibrant neighbourhood. These short tours are available on both the Saturday and Sunday on the two weekends before Christmas, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. leaving from the Moulin de Provence at 55 ByWard Market Square. Festive red and green capes will keep you warm and song sheets will be provided. Originally only Parliament Hill was illuminated, but the program has grown to include 16 NCC sites and over 51 other sites along Confederation Boulevard. Thanks to the support of its many partners in the Capital Region and in the provincial and territorial capitals, Christmas Lights Across Canada has created a tradition of collaboration and goodwill among all Canadians. 2009

From Decemeber 26 to January 5 2009, IIHF World Junior Chanpionship is coming to Ottawa. Hockey Canada and the host committee has announced that up to 40 hopefuls will be competing at Canada's junior team selection camp, at the SotiaBank Arena on December 12. The tournament will feature 10 countries competing in 31games. Games will take place at Scotiabank Place in Kanata, and the Ottawa Civic Centre in The Glebe. Organizers hope to set a new World Junior attendance record. If all 31 games sell out, attendance could surpass 456,000. The current record is 374,353, set in 2006 in Vancouver-Kamloops.
