Every February, Canada's Capital Region is host to Winterlude, North America's greatest winter festival. Three fun-filled weekends of excitement and activity await the whole family! From spectacular ice carvings to an amazing playground made of snow, Winterlude is a great way to take in the best of our Canadian winter.

Choose your Challenge! If you love the outdoors, you owe it to yourself to experience the ultimate winter event - the Canadian Ski Marathon (CSM), held every second weekend in February. The world's longest cross-country ski tour is a skier's paradise and offers some of the best wilderness trails anywhere. It attracts over 2200 skiers, ages 5 to 85, from novice to expert. The annual two-day event features ten sections that span 160km of tranquility and beauty through the Quebec countryside, from Lachute to Montebello to Gatineau. Complete the number of sections of your choice on our double-tracked trail to win yourself a prize. Everyone's a winner!

Every year, over 3000 skiers from more than 20 different countries come to the Outaouais, the capital of cross country skiing in Canada, to take part in the Canadian leg of the WorldLoppet circuit, The Keskinada Loppet. Canada's largest cross-country ski event brings together the world’s elite skiers in search of a high calibre competition, competitive skiers, recreational skiers, nature-lovers and families looking for an outdoor activity.

Don't miss the boat!  If you haven't experienced the sport of dragon boat racing, start your summer at Mooney's Bay.  180 teams participate in corporate, government and community challenges.  Combine the excitement and competition of the races with multi-cultural food and entertainment and charitable fundraising and you have something for the whole family to enjoy.  Some examples of on-site events include the following:

  • Multicultural performances all day on the Festival's main stage
  • A children's activity area that includes rides, a crafts tent and much more!
  • A variety of concessionaires and exhibitors representing our cross-cultural community
  • A beer garden
  • NO PARKING ON SITE – FREE parking and shuttle bus every 15 minutes Saturday from 7AM - 7PM, and Sunday from 8AM - 5PM.

  • Free shuttle every hour on the hour from the Sheraton Ottawa Hotel, with stops at Bronson & Somerset and Carleton University (Lot 7)

The world’s largest beach volleyball tournament with as many as 1,000 teams and 10,000 players participating in 5, 000 games is a spectacle in and of itself. But HOPE pumps up the event a few more notches by providing six continuous hours of live entertainment from its main stage featuring prominent headliners drawing in upwards of another 20,000 spectators. Since its inception 23 years ago, the BeachFest has raised more than 5 million in support of over 100 local charities.
